Elijah Okosun
Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist
Elijah is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist who draws on an eclectic, evidence-based approach to help individuals, couples, and families explore emotional patterns, past experiences, and cultural identity through reflective, collaborative therapy.

I am a psychotherapist with a deep fascination for the complexity of the human mind and the countless ways our thoughts, emotions, and experiences shape who we become. From an early age, I found myself drawn to the enduring questions of what it means to be human, how we carry our emotional worlds, and how our experiences quietly influence the way we understand ourselves and relate to others.
That curiosity gradually led me towards psychotherapy and continues to shape the way I think about my work. Having worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds, I have come to appreciate the many ways culture, environment, and personal experience shape our psychological ecosystem.
My approach is grounded in careful reflection and a deep respect for the individuality of every person's experience. Together, we will work to examine your experiences, deepen your understanding of the patterns that shape your life, and explore meaningful ways forward.
Areas of Support
I work with individuals experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, mood disorders, stress, trauma, personality disorders, low self-esteem, grief, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. I have a particular interest in helping individuals understand recurring emotional patterns, interpersonal difficulties, and the ways past experiences continue to influence present-day thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. I also support clients navigating cultural adjustment, identity-related concerns, and the emotional demands of living, studying, or working in unfamiliar environments.
Therapeutic Approach
My work is primarily informed by psychoanalytic psychotherapy and guided by an eclectic approach that allows me to draw thoughtfully from a range of evidence-based therapeutic models according to the unique needs of each individual. I view therapy as a process of thoughtful exploration rather than simply problem-solving. You can expect our sessions to be exploratory, reflective, and guided by curiosity, allowing us to examine the patterns, relationships, and experiences that may be influencing your current difficulties. I also tailor the therapeutic modality and process to your goals, circumstances, and evolving understanding, and throughout our work together you remain an active participant in shaping the direction and focus of therapy.
Who I Work With
I work with children, adolescents, and adults, offering therapy to individuals, couples, and families. I have experience supporting individuals from multicultural backgrounds and international residents, and at present I do not have any specific population exclusions.
Professional Experience
I have worked in mental health across clinical, educational, and community settings, supporting children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families presenting with a broad range of emotional and psychological concerns. My experience includes providing individual psychotherapy, conducting psychological assessments, developing treatment plans, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals to promote positive therapeutic outcomes. I have also supported individuals from diverse cultural and international backgrounds, which has strengthened my appreciation of the ways culture, identity, and life experiences influence psychological well-being. Alongside my clinical work, I have been involved in psychological research and community mental health initiatives, further strengthening my commitment to evidence-informed and accessible mental health care.
