I am a psychological counselor from Japan. I studied Psychology and Neuroscience at postgraduate level in the United Kingdom and have completed training in various therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA), and Attachment-Based Therapy.

I have supported people from diverse backgrounds, including individuals with autism spectrum conditions, children facing social and family difficulties, employees dealing with work-related stress, and clients experiencing relationship or family challenges.

Having lived and worked in several countries across Southeast Asia and Europe, I understand how meaningful, but also how challenging, it can be to live in a different culture. Adjusting to a new environment, communicating across cultures, and building relationships with people from different backgrounds can sometimes bring confusion, loneliness, or emotional stress.

In my counselling, I aim to offer a warm, respectful, and safe space where you can explore your feelings at your own pace. I would be happy to support you with issues such as cultural adjustment, international relocation, workplace stress, relationship concerns, and the challenges faced by intercultural couples and families.

Together, we can gently explore what you are going through and find ways to help you feel more grounded, understood, and supported.

Areas of Support

I support adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, relationship and family difficulties, workplace concerns, burnout, and life transitions. I have particular experience supporting expatriates, international professionals, and intercultural couples who are navigating cultural adjustment, identity, communication, and relocation. My therapeutic approach draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA), and Attachment-Based Therapy, tailored to each client's individual needs. I also work with grief, emotional regulation, and personal growth. While I do not provide crisis intervention or treatment for severe psychiatric conditions requiring intensive medical care, I am happy to collaborate with other healthcare professionals when appropriate.

Therapeutic Approach

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each client's individual needs. I primarily draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA), and Attachment-Based Therapy, while integrating other evidence-based approaches when appropriate.

In our sessions, we begin by exploring what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. Together, we identify patterns in your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviours, while also recognizing your strengths and existing resources. Depending on your goals, sessions may include practical coping strategies, emotional processing, self-reflection, or developing healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

Some clients prefer a structured, goal-oriented approach, while others benefit from a more exploratory process. I adapt my style to what feels most helpful for you. I believe therapy works best as a partnership, so we regularly review your goals together and ensure that the direction of therapy reflects your needs, values, and pace.

Who I Work With

I work with adolescents aged 15 and above and adults, offering individual counselling.

I have experience supporting people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, including expatriates, international professionals, multicultural clients, and individuals adjusting to life in a new country. I also work with clients experiencing anxiety, workplace stress, relationship and family concerns, grief, life transitions, and challenges related to cultural adaptation. In addition, I have experience supporting adolescents and adults with autism spectrum conditions, as well as individuals navigating emotional, developmental, and interpersonal challenges.

Professional Experience

I have worked in mental health and psychological support for several years across a variety of settings. My experience includes providing counselling through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), supporting students in educational settings, working with individuals with autism spectrum conditions, and assisting children and young people experiencing social vulnerability. I have also provided psychological support to employees, expatriates, and families facing workplace stress, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.

In addition to clinical practice, I have experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, delivering psychoeducation, and promoting mental wellbeing in community and workplace settings. Living and working in several countries across Southeast Asia and Europe has further strengthened my understanding of cultural diversity and the unique challenges of cross-cultural adjustment.
